Author: ANTIOCH — Police are trying to determine how an 18-year-old Antioch man sustained a gunshot wound to the head early this morning.
At shortly before 6 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a disturbance at West 4th near L Street in Antioch. Police arrived to find a vehicle leaving. After stopping the vehicle, officers discovered an 18-year-old gunshot victim inside, along with three others.
The group appeared to be trying to take the victim to the hospital, said Lt. Patrick Welch, adding, “We’re thinking one of the people in the car (called 911) on his cell phone.”
The victim, whose name is not being released, was flown to John Muir Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
“At this point, we’re still trying to figure out happened,” said Welch, who described the passengers as “cooperative.”
