About 20 people waited outside Nordstrom at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek this evening in order to be among the first to buy the latest in a popular line of basketball shoes.
A limited number of new-model Nike Air Jordan Space Jam Retro 11 shoes go on sale Wednesday morning at 8 a.m., store employees said.
The shoes were initially set to go on sale for the first time on Christmas Eve, but the release was pushed up a day in order to let retailers close their doors early, a Nike spokesperson said in a news release.
Coveted by fans, the shoes already have been selling briskly this evening at other retailers, according to posts on the popular social networking site Twitter.
There will be fewer than 50 pairs of the $175-shoe available at Nordstrom, employees said.
