A crash in Pleasanton tonight left a person hospitalized with major injuries and knocked out power to more than 900 PG&E customers when the victim’s vehicle struck a power pole, according to authorities.
The crash was reported at about 7:30 p.m. on Dublin Canyon Road near Canyon Creek Circle, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Ralph Caggiano.
A Nissan vehicle was traveling west on Dublin Canyon Road when it struck the pole and overturned on its roof, Caggiano said.
The victim was transported to Eden Medical Center with major injuries to the head and neck, according to Caggiano.
PG&E was called out to the scene of the crash to make repairs. The crash caused a power outage that initially affected 930 customers in the area, utility spokesman J.D. Guidi said.
More than half of those customers have since had their power restored, but outages remained for 440 customers as of 10:45 p.m., Guidi said. There is no estimate for when power will be fully restored in the area, he said.
Dublin Canyon Road remained closed in both directions as of 10:30 p.m. because of the crash, Caggiano said. He did not know when the road would be reopened.
