Original Article: Alcatraz Tours As One Of Many San Francisco Attractions

For anyone who is visiting San Francisco, a particular spot you simply cannot lose out on is the legendary Alcatraz prison. Spending some time to take one of the many Alcatraz tours might just be the most unique part of your vacation. There is lots of history here, and most of the stories which surround the island provide the entire facility a specific atmosphere of eerie beauty.

Alcatraz tours happen throughout the entire year, so you can schedule your own trip to meet your needs. If you want to stay away from the crowds, you could get your Alcatraz tickets for the winter season. It is usually cold, but you can enjoy the time on the island without feeling packed. Conversely, if you want to go when the weather is favorable, look at April and May or perhaps September and October. Oddly, the mid-summer months tend to be cold and foggy out on the island.

When you select a time to visit the island, there are still several choices available to you. For instance, you can go on one of several professionally guided Alcatraz tours if you love being in larger groups and listening to stories from a real tour guide. On the other hand, if you favor going at your own pace and avoiding the crowds, there are many great audio tours that contain the voices of former guards and inmates so you can truly start to get an understanding for what it must have been like back when Alcatraz was still being used as a prison.

The historical past of this island goes back a long way, and you will begin to get a feel for it via these tours. Probably the most notorious crooks in the country spent time in this prison, and for good reason. Most prisoners which served a part of a sentence here weren’t automatically sentenced to Alcatraz. They had to earn their spot at Alcatraz by way of excessive and regularly bad actions at other institutions.

Both Al Capone and Robert Stroud (the “Birdman” of Alcatraz) spent a while here, and most Alcatraz tours will take you to the cells where they spent most of their time. Alcatraz was in operation for nearly 29 years, and in that time it saw a lot of famous criminals and dramatic incidents, including 14 escape attempts. Some people actually assert that the prison is haunted, however it is not likely your tour will point those areas out to you.

If you know you want to spend some of your vacation going to the prison, you can buy your Alcatraz tickets early and start scheduling what you would like to see. Alcatraz is a large place, with 336 main line cells and 42 solitary confinement rooms, there is a lot to see. If you are not going on a tour of some kind, you should make sure you can maximize your time on the island without walking around aimlessly throughout the corridors.

Of all the San Francisco area attractions, Alcatraz tours are undoubtedly some of the most famous. Whether you prefer to experience part of the history of the island or you just want to see one of the most well-known prisons on the globe, this is a getaway you will not forget.

Alcatraz tours can be a lot of fun for the entire family. If you are in the area, make sure to visit a few of the other memorable San Francisco attractions such as the Aquarium of the Bay and the Exploratorium. These diverse sites will give your family a trip they’ll never forget.

The sparkling city of San Francisco offers a vacationer a holiday they will never forget. This beautiful city is filled with things to do, place to go, and people to see. In fact, there is so much to do in this gorgeous town that a night or two is simply not enough for most people. Even a week will only barely scratch the surface of all this city offers. In addition, San Francisco vacation rentals cover the gamut from luxury motel rooms to rental apartments and cottages.

San Francisco rental types can be as traditional or as charming and historic as any vacationer might want. From historic area lofts or apartments to modest and not so modest hotel rentals there is something for almost every taste within the area. There are possibly as many choices in places to stay as there are in things to do and see in the area.

Although some vacationers want to be in the thick of things others prefer more quiet San Francisco rental types. Choices might include a quaint bed and breakfast or a delightful out of the way vacation cottage. The Bay area is justifiably famous for its’ entertainment options as well as its vacation rental choices.

A quaint loft located right in the center of Union Square can appease almost any person’s sense of adventure. Sleeping nestled in a luxurious hideaway secure in the heart of the city may be the ideal getaway for some. While some may spend the day seeing the sights and exploring the town, and then relax at their rental apartment others find the day has barely begun and are ready at sunset to begin exploring the night side of the Bay area.

A slice of history can be found in the well known Haight Ashbury district which was famous as a music center during the sixties. The Buena Vista area is surrounding the Haight Ashbury area and rentals there give easy access to this amazing slice of recent history. The accommodations in this area are as comfortable and modern as any vacationer could want but the atmosphere takes people back to days gone by.

While some visitors can spare no more than a night or three many choose to stay for a month and vacation rentals are available for longer term visitors. Small pets and animals are not a barrier to finding a reasonably priced and comfortable rental while visiting the area. While some visitors desire the bustle of the center of the city others prefer a quieter area to head to at the end of a busy day.

Fisherman’s Wharf holds some of the must see places in the city, such sights as Alcatraz and Pier 39 are high on most people’s lists of things to see during a visit. Additionally, the Wharf is also justifiably famous for seafood and fine restaurants. Near to the famous Wharf are various private vacation rentals which can permit the visitor easy access to the wharf and the rest of the city and a cozy place to retire to each night.

If the vacationer prefers the more traditional hotel choices then perhaps a stay at the Fairmont Hotel, the Mark Hopkins or the Westin St. Francis are more in line with their desires. However, these three famous hotels tend to fill up early during vacation season so booking ahead is wise. Whatever the preference of the vacationer and their family, there is a place that will suit in this wonderful city.

Original Article: Unlocking The Secrets To Finding A Good San Francisco Locksmith

So you flew into San Francisco International Airport on the red-eye, rented your car and have finally arrived at your hotel. Dog tired, you grab your bags, shut the door, and then think, “huh, where are my keys?” They are in the ignition, of course, locked inside your car. You need a San Francisco locksmith, and asap too–you’re driving the car to a meeting in the morning. But don’t panic and scramble aimlessly for someone to call, take a little time and remember these secret tips about how to find quality locksmiths in San Francisco.

There are a lot of locksmiths in the city and one of the best things you can do is shop around a little bit before you call someone out to your home or business or car. It can be a good idea to look around a little before you need work done so that when you do need some help you know who you’re going to call.

Agree on a job order and price beforehand. You should expect updates as to any changes in the job or price. You should never be surprised by the final bill, and they should promise that you won’t be before they begin work.

Look for professionalism. See if their truck or van is official looking. Do they seem knowledgeable about the work at hand? can they answer all your questions? Do they look like they’ve been in business for a long time?

The initial quote they give you should stick, with some exceptions, like if they suggest replacing instead of re-keying the locks, a much more expensive job. If you’re skeptical that replacement is the only option, go and get a second-opinion. Expect that some jobs may be delayed by special or troublesome locks.

So, whether you need a San Francisco locksmith at your home, business, or rental car, these secret tips will help you find a quality person to do the job.

Original Article: San Francisco 49ers And Joe Cool

The 49ers of San Francisco are, without a doubt, one of the top team in the history of the National Football League. Winners of five Lombardi trophies, the 49ers were a powerhouse in the Eighties and Nineties. With their West Coast offense and sterling quarterbacks, they were the very definition of the word “dynasty” during their heyday. From 1984, the team managed to have ten or more victories in each of the next sixteen seasons – and incredible accomplishment. Some of the talent during that time frame ranks among the most regarded players of all time, with names like Jerry Rice and Steve Young. Of course, it is also impossible to overlook the presence of perhaps the greatest quarterback of all time – and a man responsible for four of those Super Bowl wins: Joe Montana.

An icon

Joe Cool, as Montana was often called, first began play with the 49ers during the 1979 season. He would remain there until the end of the 1992 campaign, when he would be traded to the Chiefs. His style of play is best remembered for his unshakable determination to win, even when it appeared that his team was doomed to lose. Time and again, Montana would lead his team down the field during the closing moments of games in which they were trailing, and make some spectacular throw to seal a win. Well, that’s the legend anyway. The reality is that during his entire sixteen-year career, there were 31 fourth period comeback drives – many in crucial playoff situations or other big games. As time has passed, the legend of Joe the comeback kid has grown to where it now seems as though the 49ers were always coming back from a deficit. The fact is that they were too good to get behind that often!

The Championships

The first of Montana’s four Super Bowl runs was perhaps also the most memorable. The 1981 season culminated in a matchup with Dallas in January of 1982, with the NFC title and a right to represent the conference in Super Bowl XVI on the line. At the end of the game, with the 49ers trailing by six, Montana engineered a drive that resulted in a game-winning touchdown pass with less than a minute to spare. The pass’s reception by Dwight Clark has since passed into NFL Lore as “The Catch” – and is considered one of the greatest plays in the history of professional football. The 49ers would go on to defeat the Bengals and win that year’s Super Bowl, with Montana earning MVP honors for his performance. The 49ers would later go on to win Super Bowls XIX, XXIII, and XXIV with Montana as quarterback. By the time of that fourth championship, Montana had collected his third Super Bowl MVP award. To date, he is the only NFL player to have enjoyed that honor.

Legacy

Montana is not some mere relic of a bygone age. Some remember him as the aging quarterback who prevented Steve Young from enjoying a role as starter until he too had wasted much of his youth. Montana was none of that. He was a winner, through and through, whose four championship rings – matching Bradshaw’s – elevate him to a class with few members. There was no surprise in the league when Joe’s last two seasons of play, with the Chiefs, resulted in him leading Kansas City into the AFC title match. For him, even that was possible.

Freddie Brister is a huge fan of all sports and recommends checking out his San Francisco 49ers Bedding and San Francisco Giants blanket at his shop.
